Water Saving

Water Management Initiatives

Water is at the heart of life, agriculture, and rural livelihoods. Recognizing the growing crisis of water scarcity and mismanagement in both rural and urban settings, IRADA (Integrated Rural and Agriculture Development Association) has prioritized water conservation and efficient water management as a key area of intervention.

Through targeted projects, strategic partnerships, and large-scale community mobilization, IRADA is actively working to create awareness, build local capacity, and implement sustainable solutions that ensure long-term water security for communities.

Water Conservation Projects with NABARD

In collaboration with NABARD (National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development), IRADA has implemented several water-saving and watershed development initiatives in Lucknow and neighbouring districts. These projects aim to:

  • Promote efficient irrigation techniques such as drip and sprinkler systems.
  • Revive traditional water bodies like ponds and check dams.
  • Encourage rainwater harvesting and groundwater recharge practices.
  • Train farmers in water budgeting and resource mapping.
We grow fresh, organic produce using clean methods that protect nature, healthy food.

Community Mobilization in Urban Areas

IRADA has also been active in urban water awareness through voluntary mobilization campaigns conducted in collaboration with students from the University of Lucknow. These programs include:

  • Awareness drives on reducing household water wastage
  • Campaigns in residential areas and schools on rainwater harvesting

Water Management Programs with FAO (United Nations)

IRADA has had the privilege of conducting specialized water management training programs in association with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations. These programs focus on:

  • Integrated Water Resource Management (IWRM) principles.
  • Climate-resilient water practices in agriculture.
  • Use of data and technology for monitoring water usage.
  • Community-level planning and participation in water governance.

With technical inputs from FAO experts, these sessions have enhanced the capacities of local leaders, farmers, and youth volunteers to adopt a more scientific and participatory approach to water conservation.
