Self Help Group

Empowering Women and Communities through SHGs

IRADA – Integrated Rural and Agriculture Development Association.

IRADA (Integrated Rural and Agriculture Development Association) is a grassroots organization dedicated to rural empowerment, sustainable livelihoods, and community development. A major focus of our work is the formation, nurturing, and strengthening of Self Help Groups (SHGs)—a powerful tool for financial inclusion, women’s empowerment, and income generation.

Our SHG Development Program

Over the years, IRADA has successfully mobilized and facilitated the formation of more than 1050 SHGs across various districts of Uttar Pradesh, in collaboration with NABARD, Bank of India, and other partner institutions. These groups have become platforms for mutual support, micro-financing, and skill-building, especially among rural women.

Key Achievements and Activities

  1. SHG Formation and Capacity Building
With technical and financial support from NABARD and other development bodies, we have guided communities through the entire process of SHG formation, orientation, and training in group dynamics, record-keeping, savings, and credit management.
  2. Income Generating Activities (IGAs)
To ensure that SHG members can translate their skills into sustainable livelihoods, we have initiated and supported various income-generating activities, such as:
  • Pickle making and food processing
  • Incense stick (agarbatti) production
  • Candle making, papad rolling, and handicrafts
  • Kitchen gardening and mushroom cultivation
  1. Skill Development and Livelihood Training
In collaboration with Bank of India, we have conducted specialized training programs to equip SHG members with market-relevant skills. These training sessions have focused on entrepreneurship, packaging and marketing, product development, and basic financial literacy.
  2. Access to Credit and Financial Inclusion
IRADA facilitates linkage of SHGs with formal banking systems, helping them access loans and start small enterprises. We also support them in preparing micro-credit plans and managing revolving funds.
Our Vision

At IRADA, we believe that strong communities begin with empowered individuals. Through our SHG-focused initiatives, we aim to foster a culture of self-reliance, entrepreneurship, and cooperative growth, especially among rural women. With continued partnerships and grassroots engagement, we strive to create a more inclusive and sustainable rural economy.
